Karthigai Deepam festival was celebrated with great fervour last 2 weeks in Tiruvannmalai culminating with lighting of Deepam (light) at the top of holy hill of Arunachala.

Here at Sadhuom Ashram the occasion was celebrated with parayanam (chanting of hymns) , grand puja at Sadhuom Shrine, eventually lighting of deepam and sharing of prasadam with devotees. Here are some of the snaps from that day.

Karthigai Deepam was celebrated at Arunachala on Dec 12, 2016.

The sacred light was lit on the hill at 6:00 PM and at the same it was lit at Sadhuom shrine followed by chanting of Aksharamanamalai. Deepam at the hill was not immediately visible due to inclement weather.

We have attached some snaps taken during the Puja and of Arunachala deepam the following days.

I have seen a wonder!

(This) Magnetic Hill forcibly attracts the souls.

Having suppressed the mischievous (mental) activitiess of the soul who has thought of It (even) once, having drawn (that soul) to face towards Itself, the One, and having made it motionless (achala) like Itself.
It feeds upon that sweet (pure and ripened) soul.

What a wonder this is! O Souls,

Be saved by thinking of this Arunagiri, the destroyer of the soul (the ego) who shines in the heart.
